"Remain well established and rooted in faith and hope, - eyes on Jesus (always go back to Jesus- hymn 1:15-20)

There will be temptation to shift away, tempting teachings, or old ideas – paganism they just left, Jewish legalism they should avoid–whats similar for us?  (all of chapter to is a persuasive argument against Jewish legalism

Paul is deeply focused. Laboring for the church- work hard and struggle to “present each one mature in Christ”

Paul calls them and us to similar focus and labor for God’s kingdom. Even to the point of suffering for for the growth of Gods people/kingdom/purpose.

Think the “suffering” of woman in labor, parenthood, hard conversations of reconciliation, coaching and athlete– all longing and effort focused

24 “Complete what was missing” –confusing verse- think Jesus’ words you will do greater things than I–Paul is speaking of the surprising mystery of the move to the gentiles (of which we all benefit) but which was a big unexpected even traumatic shift for early church  in their time."
