In his old age, Joshua prepared the people to continue to go into the promiseland in obedience to God's plan for them. In spite of perceived challenges and leadership transition, the people were told to move forward in obedience out of:

2. Self-denial (Luke 22:42)
3. Love (John 14:15, 21)

Obedience is not optional, but a free-will choice.
