Matthew 4:17, 23; 5:3-5
Audio only

We all know that we should love God, love people, and serve the world, but how do we become the kinds of people who naturally are more loving? Our new 6 week sermon series will explore what it means to learn from Jesus as His disciples in a practical way.

Extra Credit

Activity 1: Say to yourself, “Even though I ____, I will not be afraid, for you are with me.” (ex. Even though I got into a nasty fight with someone earlier…Even though I have to go into my horrible work tomorrow that I absolutely hate…)

Activity 2: Create your own Beatitude for someone around you. “Blessed are the [describe them], for the kingdom of God is open to them too.” (ex: blessed are the autistic, blessed are the hard-to-get-along-with, the kind of awkward, etc.)

Reading: Matthew 4:17-7:29, preferably in one sitting

Reflection/Activity: Read the Beatitudes (Matthew 5:3-10). What “unblessable” condition do you face (ex. Poor, ugly, incompetent, shy, awkward, etc.)? Say out loud to yourself “Blessed am I, for the kingdom of heaven is available and accessible to me!”
