AAPI PERSONAL SAFETY TRAINING
Outdoor event for AAPI people of all ages, genders, and abilities.
Learning Skills to Change Fear into Empowerment.
During this ninety-minute interactive training, you’ll learn how to protect yourself in a safe, supportive and empowered environment. This event will teach awareness and safety strategies to avoid assaults before they happen. You’ll also learn effective physical techniques addressing the most common attack situations: being pushed or pulled, cornered, rushed at or grabbed by the wrist. Rather than relying on strength, you will learn principles of leverage, timing and energy efficiency to defend against a stronger assailant. Regardless of your age, size, strength or physical ability, you can learn the techniques of safety and self-defense while gaining an increased sense of personal confidence and empowerment. You’ll leave with new tools on how to respond to harassment, whether your response is in the moment while that harassment is happening or long-term.
Class includes warm-up exercises, discussion of safety principles, and instruction in specific self-defense techniques. With social distancing protocol, participants can practice solo or with a friend or family member. No experience necessary and no equipment required.

WHO CAN ATTEND: AAPI people of all gender ages 9+. No experience necessary.

WHAT TO WEAR: MASK REQUIRED. Comfortable yoga clothing. Movements should be done in athletic shoes.

We will give your slot to the next person on the waiting list.
